Flair, Prepare, #ShowUsYouCare. 5/8-5/15 Homework

Homework!

  1. Capture This Moment in Bike Flair

One of the best things about good music, good photos, good art… is that they tell a story and capture a moment in time. You see it, hear it, feel it and it takes you back. We are experiencing a pivotal moment in the history of our species right now. Within this big moment are smaller moments of pain, sadness, anxiety, difficulty, triumph, joy, laughter and growth… maybe moments of focus… I’m hoping.

So this week’s BIG assignment is to add a piece of “flair” to your bicycle. Bells, whistles, horns, buttons, stickers, dangles and/or tangles. Add something new that means something to you right now. Maybe it will still be there in 5 years and you’ll say, “I remember that moment and now here I am, now here we are.”

Instructions:

  1. Find a piece of flare

  2. Take a photo of it

  3. Attach it to your bike

  4. Take a photo of it

  5. Go for ride

  6. Bonus*** Share/post your bike flair and encourage others to participate

2. Assemble your BBP volunteer tool kit

As BBP begins to reopen volunteer opportunities we’re going to need to take some extra precautions to keep you and our staff safe. By following these precautions you are showing BBP (staff, volunteers, program participants) and your fellow community members that you care. #showusyoucare

  1. Face covering. Cloth ones are fine, bandanas work too, your wood working ones are perfect. In order to volunteer or use the BBP shop in any way for the next several weeks/months you will have to be wearing a face covering. Think of it as an act of community kindness. We also have bandanas for purchase if you’re lacking.

  2. Tools. If you’re working on bikes and some basic tools of your own, please consider bringing some for your own personal use. This will add a layer of safety and allow us to wipe down community tools a little bit less.

  3. Hand Sanitizer. BBP will provide hand sanitizer for all volunteers and shop users, but if you have your own, please give yourself a pump before you walk in the door and again when you leave.

This Week’s Topic: Volunteer Check-in
