Bikes of BBP & Their Humans: Meet Seth

Ah, Seth… what a great guy! Our nickname at the shop for him is Young Seth; and while he is a young guy, he’s such a talented mechanic. It’s always a fun time when Seth’s at work, and I can’t wait for you to meet his bike…

Name: Seth Gingerich

Pronouns: He\his

Role at BBP: Mechanic, scooter trick master, and dog wrangler

Your bike make and model: 2013 Morpheus Skyla

When did you build your bike?: I built my bike to replace my dirt jumper, and I believe I started the project at the beginning of October 2019 and took a little longer than expected.

Your bike name: Unfortunately I don't have a settled name for the bike. Friends and I have been trying ever since I finished the build but nothing has clicked so far. But the time will come; and since I love this bike with all my heart, the likelihood of me getting its name tattooed in elephant font across my chest is dangerously high.

What’s the story of your bike?: This build was one of the harder builds I've ever put myself on to complete only because Morpheus (the company who makes my frame) is no longer a company. This makes/made it almost impossible for me to find intricate parts such as the derailleur hanger. I ended up purchasing new suspension (front and rear) and found everything else I needed such as my wheel set and consumables here at BBP after searching for months and months. During the hunt for these parts I almost gave up on my build several times, but now that I have it finalized and ridden it I am really glad I stuck with it because it is now my favorite bike in my fleet.

What’s your favorite feature on your bike?: My favorite feature on the bike is the frame itself. The Skyla, when introduced, was the lightest slopestyle frame on the market; and they are already rare as is. This blue anodized frame is made up of different tubing shapes, and whoever welded it stacked DIMES (solid welds). The linkage has proven to be bombproof and has multiple shox adjustment points which has been very nice to have especially fitted with the Fox rear shock.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?: Rice Krispy Treat ice cream from Delsa’s here in boise. Changed my entire life.

What does Nina (engagement coordinator) appreciate about Seth? “I really appreciate the energy Seth brings to the shop. He has hilarious stories, brings in such cool bike builds like this Morpheus, and is always willing to help with my silly bike questions (I'm still learning). Not to mention he makes a mean lemon tart and has an adorably shaky dog, Epi.”

What are you currently doing during our shop closure?: Here at BBP I've been keeping myself busy by riding the shop scooters, clearing our tear-a-part every week, as well as making cool builds with the other mechanics.
