Boise Bicycle Project is arranging bike deliveries around the Treasure Valley January 15 and is looking for volunteers with truck beds, hatchbacks, or bike racks who can help carry bikes to families that were unable to attend our 2023 Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway.
Last month our shop donated 709 kids bikes. But on the day of the Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway, we received calls from families experiencing everything from chickenpox outbreaks to car troubles who were worried that missing the event would mean their kids wouldn’t receive their dream bikes!
Organizing these bike deliveries is an MLK Day tradition for our shop. Every year we end up with 50 - 100 bikes left over from our giveaway due to families not being able to make it to our event. Many of these families are the ones with the most barriers to accessing our services and we want to make sure all of the kids who had a bike built with them in mind still have the chance to receive it.
Volunteers can sign up to either help prep bikes for delivery at our shop on the morning of January 15 or to make deliveries around the Treasure Valley in the afternoon.
