The Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway is a winter tradition that the Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) has held since 2007. Every December, over 500 kids draw pictures of their “dream bikes” and get matched with a donated bike that is fixed up and “dreamified” to match their drawing.
This year, BBP hopes to connect 500+ kids from our community with their dream bikes. In preparation for the Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway, BBP is asking the community to donate their gently used kids bikes in the months of October and November - preferably during the Holiday Kids Bike Drive.
The Holiday Kids Give Drive will be between 11 AM - 5 PM on Saturday, October 26th. Our dedicated volunteers will be hard at work organizing and preparing the bikes in the BBP warehouse!
Bike donations should be made in the alleyway behind the Boise Bicycle Project (1027 S Lusk Street). For easy access, please enter the alley from the south side near Dawson Taylor’s “ROAST” coffee bar.
The coolest part? Your donated bike will be used in one of the following ways! :
1. Tuned up, “dreamified,” and then given to a child in need in the community.
2. Salvaged for usable parts to “dreamify” bikes.
3. Sent to BBP’s tribal partners at Fort Hall and Duck Valley reservations, where they will distribute these bikes to kids and teens in need of transportation.
No matter where your donated bike ends up, know that it will either be properly recycled or go to a child or teen in need.
Not close to BBP or can’t make it to the Holiday Kids Bike Drive? Drop off your bike at any of the following Roundhouse locations on October 26th from 9 AM to 12 PM:
“Clara” - Eagle (225 S Linder Rd)
“Dovetail” - Meridian (1350 N Webb Wy)
“Southside” - Nampa (1004 Southside Blvd)
