Mary Hoopes

An avid lover of the outdoors, Mary first got into cycling while living in Albuquerque in 2013 when she sold her car and bought her first road bike. Since then, she has expanded her love of two-wheel transportation to include mountain biking, gravel riding, and road cycling. After many years riding around New Mexico and then seven more years of riding around Colorado, she and her husband moved to Idaho in 2021.

As her connections in the cycling community evolved in Boise, so did her desire to give back to it in a meaningful way. She was first introduced to the Boise Bicycle Project by way of invitation to the Goathead Festival. Over the years, she got to know the organization through other events and began volunteering in 2024, even taking advantage of some of the organization's educational classes. After expressing her interest in joining the board, she was accepted in January 2025. She is grateful to support the BBP's mission of building a strong bicycling community in Boise.

Beyond her involvement with BBP, Mary enjoys hiking in the foothills with her dog, crafting cocktails at home with her husband, tending to her backyard garden, and, of course, riding her bikes on just about any trail, path, or road around the city of Boise.
