Mobile Fix-it Kicks Off for the Year!

This Wednesday we made our first Youth Mobile Fix-it stop of the year at the Pioneer Square Apartments. It was a blast! We loaded up our bike trailer with tools, spare parts, bike stands, pumps and signs and rode off from BBP.

We arrived at the apartments and began to set up shop, while our volunteers all met us there on their bikes. Big thanks to Troy, Guido and Steve, as well as Colby from Safe Routes to School for helping out!

As the kids began to trickle in with their bikes, our volunteers and staff sprung into action getting bikes ready to ride! We fixed flats and bald tires, restrung shifting cables, adjusted brakes and even swapped out a few wheels. As the bikes were being fixed, Maureen was busy signing up kids in need of a bicycle for our BASH and Teen Bike Giveaways.

Soon the apartment's playground was circled by young people riding repaired bicycles and we were packing up the trailer for the return trip to BBP and our stop the following week. What a great afternoon!
If you are interested in helping at our Mobile Fix-it on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30ish , head to our Volunteer page to sign up!
