Bringing back the social benefit of bicycling with social rides!
Our last official social ride happened on March 12th, a week before the shutdown. It was a small group, a somewhat quiet ride, likely because we all knew things were about to change.
Since then, we hosted a choose-your-own-ride version of Goathead Fest and Bikin’ 4 Lovin’ that reminded us how much we love riding together, riding with new people, and riding all over the city!
I am so excited to bring social rides back. This year we will have a monthly ride, each with a different theme that you can see on that Spoke Card (If you don’t have a spoke card, you can swing by the shop for one!).
Masks are required for ALL social rides, including on the ride.
March: F*#@ The Weather Ride
According to the Farmers Almanac, March 19th is going to be a real crappy day. Cold, rainy, potentially snowy, probably windy. But we all know March in Boise…. all of that plus sunny weather could happen within 30 minutes! No weather can defeat the spirit of a group ride, so join us for the crappiest ride of the year.
We will be riding from BBP to Cassia Park! Dependent on construction, we have the opportunity to cruise along Cassia to check out ACHD’s implementation of the Cassia Street Bikeway. Once we get to the park, we can huddle while distanced under the shelter if its crappy, and hang out in the park if its not. Bring a frisbee, a picnic, your friends and some layers!
April: 5 mile ride
For this ride, we are going to look to the Biosphere.
That’s right, we are going to go Birding by Bike! April 24th, 10am, meeting at the Ann Morrison Park Shelter. Partnering with the Idaho Young Birders, we will be riding to Kathryn Albertsons and Esther Simplot Park, stopping at each park and learning about birding tips along the way. Whether you’ve never birded before, or have seen it all, you can still join and enjoy the unique birding scene Boise has to offer!
There is an optional Coffee Outside at the shelter. Meet at 9am, bring your favorite outdoor coffee making device and enjoy a spring morning with us!
