Now Hiring! Shifting Gears Coordinator

The goal of the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation is to foster educated philanthropy through collaboration and pooled resources to positively impact our community. Our members selected Boise Bicycle’s Project’s Project Kickstand as a grantee this year because of the project’s potential for fostering connection between the inmates learning a new vocational skill, the teens receiving the bicycles, and the Treasure Valley community.
— Christine Avey, IWCF Board President.

Earlier this year, BBP was awarded the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation 2020 Pooled-Fund Grant. We were honored to be selected; and we look up to the IWCF for their approach to collaborative philanthropy, which makes such a large and lasting impact in Idaho’s communities.

With this grant funding, BBP will significantly expand our Shifting Gears programming partnership with the Idaho Department of Correction. The IWCF funding is earmarked specifically for Project Kickstand, BBP’s program within the men’s correctional facility, Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI). Within the next two years, through this program, BBP will

  • Create a satellite bike shop within ISCI where program participants will refurbish bikes specifically for teens in urgent need of bicycle transportation

  • Create a certified bicycle mechanic job training program to take place within ISCI

The intention of the program is to create two channels of opportunity: one for the ISCI participants themselves and another for the teens in our community experiencing urgent need.

With this expansion to our programming, we are now seeking a Shifting Gears Coordinator to join our team and develop this program! Please review, share, and apply!
