A dose of positivity for you! (and April updates)

What a last few weeks it has been! As you know, the Boise Bicycle Project has closed our doors to the public to help ease the spread of COVID-19 in the Treasure Valley. We thank you for understanding.

But that has not stopped us! If you follow us on social media or receive our newsletters, you have seen how we have adjusted our programming, membership and volunteer opportunities to proceed into its season.

What updates can you expect in April?

Bike Services at BBP

Our favorite thing to do is to teach you how to repair your bike, but until we can do that again we will begin taking bikes in for repair at a reasonable price. We'll be trialing repair as a service this weekend and should be ready to launch during regular hours next week! Check out our full list of repairs and prices. (Hint: BBP Members get a 15% discount on already incredibly affordable prices. Nice.)

Idaho Gives is ON! Line. It’s Online.

This year, Idaho Gives will be a virtual two week long virtual event at the end of April and going into May. Big news for us is that we have a match opportunity of $20,000 thanks to the Whitney Foundation! Check out our page for more information. Tell your friends! Coworkers! Families! Bike Lovers!

What did BBP do in March while we were closed?

Youth Programs

In March we delivered 20 bikes to kids in need of a bicycle. And we did it safely! And by bike! We sanitized all the bikes to deliver, and we packed them on our Mobile Fix It and set out for delivery. Christa gave safety lessons 6 ft away, and families were filled with glee. Check out Christa’s blog post about how our youth bike deliveries have been going, and stay tuned for more updates, adorable photos and stories from our bike deliveries!

Volunteer Opportunities

Although our volunteers can’t help in the shop, an opportunity for volunteers and members is to help get the word out of BBP’s efforts. Can you share our Social Media posts, forward our newsletter to your friends and family, and shout from the rooftops about how much you love BBP?

Membership

Our members regularly use our DIY shop to work on your bike, but the majority also supports our youth and adult program, and our recently launched advocacy efforts. When we closed we reached out to our members asking for support, we received 30 new and renewing members. Thank you!

Donations

Along with member renewals and purchases, we asked for donations to keep us rollin’ through this pandemic. Y’all pulled through! Since we closed we received 46 donations, totalling $3,527. Already renewed, or looking for other ways to help? Donate! Whether you give $5 or $500, we will appreciate any and all support. Thank you!

Most importantly… we made it through, thanks to you!

March donations and membership purchases came to $7,187.56. If you remember Jimmy’s post about our financials (you can read it here) we have to make $10,000 a month while being closed to make it past May. Considering we didn’t have online sales or bike services set up yet, this was pretty dang awesome. Keep the support comin’!

Thank you for sticking around during this time, for supporting us in ways you can, and thank you for loving bikes as much as we do!
