Your Brand New BBP Executive Director!

From Jimmy

Last week, I entered my final month at the Boise Bicycle Project. A lot of people have been coming out of the woodwork, stopping by, and checking in one last time. They always ask, “is it going to be hard to leave?” and the honest answer is, YES. It’s absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And the only reason it doesn’t feel impossible, is that I know that BBP, our impact, and the community we’ve built is only going to continue to grow. I knew that 5 months ago when I gave my notice to our Board, and I’m even more confident today, because I now know who’s going to be running the ship!

After an extensive search that included candidates from as far aways as Texas, BBP’s very own Program Director Devin McComas soared to the top. I wasn’t involved in the decision making process, but I couldn’t agree with the Hiring Committee and the Board’s final selection any more enthusiastically. Devin officially jumps into the role on September 25th.

In the almost 3 years I’ve had the opportunity to work with Devin, I’ve seen someone consistently rise to the occasion, go the extra mile, and put their whole heart into everything they do. Being the Executive Director of BBP is a huge, complex, and challenging job. BBP constantly punches above its weight, maximizes every penny of every dollar to create the ultimate impact, and has a history of making the impossible possible. It does this with your endless support, and that’s why it’s the best job in the entire world!  And, that’s why Devin is going to be the perfect person for this big role.

I’m so proud to hand the reins of BBP over to Devin. I know he believes in BBP’s mission just as much as I do, and I’ve never met anyone who sees the endless potential in every kid the way he does. It’s truly remarkable, and I know, with his leadership and your continued support, the best is absolutely yet to come!

Ride on Devin!

A Message From Your New Executive Director!

I'm humbled and honored to accept the Executive Director position at the Boise Bicycle Project. A dozen years ago, when I first walked through the doors of BBP, I was new to Boise and badly in need of help getting around town so I could work. With BBP's help, I was able to obtain and maintain a progression of bicycles that allowed me to get to work as a dishwasher, a paraprofessional in the Boise School District, and a music teacher at the Boise Rock School (to name a few gigs). Eventually this intersection of cycling and empowering young people landed me at BBP as their Youth Programs Coordinator, and here we are.

Which is all to say, I personally understand the difference that BBP can make in someone's life. Today, I am extremely grateful to be a member of the team at BBP and that I am able to continue the work to ensure that people in Boise (and beyond) have access to bicycles and the agency and freedom that they provide.

This is a transitional moment, but I know that BBP will continue its work of making bicycles accessible to people of every background, reaching out to underserved communities, providing educational programming, advocating for safe streets, and continuing to grow community for those in Boise who are passionate about cycling. This confidence is informed by my firsthand knowledge of the amazing coalition of staff, board members, community partners, advocates and volunteers that are working to further BBP's mission every single day.

With your continued support, I know that we can do great things in the future. It is exciting and inspiring to think of all the rides, events, volunteer nights, classes, bike giveaways, pop ups, and parties that are on the horizon here at the Boise Bicycle Project -- and I'd like to formally invite you along for the ride...

Cheers!

Devin McComas
