Zach's Bridgestone RB-T Project Bike. You can build yours, too!

Beginning today, we will be hosting weekly Project Bike sales on Fridays. The same standards we have in place for our Saturday Refurbished Bike sales will apply. Join us Fridays from 11 to 5 outside BBP to shop the oodles of Project Bikes we have waiting for you.

As you’ve read in our newsletter, we know that the #bikeboom is coming. You’ll always be able to purchase a great, fully refurbished bike at BBP. But if you have the time and enthusiasm, why not purchase a Project Bike so you can do your build? A Project Bike frame or complete (un-refurbished) bike can cost anywhere from $10 to $100+ depending on what it is. Our shop is like a treasure trove bike museum…you may get luck and find something with a cult following or something you’ve had on your mind for years and years. BBP mechanics can give you advice and estimates on components you’ll need and potential costs for the full project.

To pique your interest, we’re sharing a success story from longtime BBP member Zach Voss. His Bridgestone rebuild is a thing of beauty.

Zach took the bike down to the frame before styling and rebuilding his dream commuter.

Choosing a Project Bike means you get to curate every single component and accessory.

This was my first complete rebuild of a bicycle. Over the years, I’ve switched out handlebars, changed bottom brackets and upgraded components. But when I found this completely rusted-out ’91 RB-T at the Project Bike sale last year, I knew this was the bike for a full dive. Bridgestone has such a great reputation that I was willing to invest the love and labor to restore its former glory, while also shifting it from being a racing/touring bike, towards my plans for it as a commuter. I salvaged as much as I could from the original bike, with BBP providing great advice and selection of used parts. For finishing touches, I bought a few new items off the shelf and also ordered stuff through the shop; a great service available to members. Love riding this bike, thanks for the opportunity BBP! -Zach
