Kids Bike Giveaways During COVID-19

I think I can speak for more than just myself when I say how confusing the last few weeks have been, as we adapt to daily changes. Usually my job involves working directly with kids, teaching them how to fix their bikes and how to ride safely on the road, so it's definitely taken some adjusting for me to figure out how I can best and safely serve my community during this COVID-19 outbreak.  Getting outside and staying active is more important than ever, however, so we wanted to make sure we could safely get kids their bikes! Rather than asking families to come down to BBP to take a safety lesson and pick up their bikes, BBP decided to bring the sanitized bikes to the families, and give our safety lessons from a distance of 6ft+ away!

The drop-offs were a huge success: parents cried and kids were literally jumping with excitement.

There's a lot of change and uncertainty in our community and at the BBP right now, as we figure out how to safely provide essential bike repair services to our community members most in need.  Witnessing the excitement that these kids and families show when we drop off their bicycles has been a huge morale boost, and reminder of the why, the passion, behind what we do all year round.

Stay safe and healthy everyone, and keep riding!
