What exactly does your membership bring to BBP?

Nina here! Comin’ at ya with our latest Member Drive article.

Some of you may be wondering… why exactly are we doing a Member Drive?

For 2019, we want to double our revenue in Membership by earning $100,000 from your support. I’m no finance major but I know that’s a big ol’ jump, but that is what we do here at BBP. We make big goals, big strides, and see big results from doing so.

The reason we want to double our membership revenue is simple: Your support through our membership program not only benefits your love of things bicycling and bike tinkering, it directly impacts our ability to implement and improve our programming, such as our bicycle giveaways, work trade program and so much more!

As a BBP Member…

You get sweet access to our shop, tools, mechanic knowledge and exclusive access to the shop on Sundays and from 6-8pm Wednesday evenings.

You also get great discounts on new & used parts and special orders.

You are always invited to our Friday Night Bikes that take us to local farms, local bike shops and businesses, and other beautiful parts and landscapes of Boise.

You receive free drink tokens at BBP events to keep the party goin’!

You belong to the inclusive and welcoming community that grows in and out of our shop.

Finally, you create impact, you improve lives throughout the Treasure Valley and beyond, and you create a connection to our community for so many individuals, young and old.

a sense of place for our youth.

When you support BBP through your yearly membership, you help us giveaway more and more bikes to those who need it most.

When school is out, summer is in, or breaks are happening, our shop sees an influx in kiddos hanging out at BBP as a community place. They were introduced to us as a space they are welcome, free to enter, and hang out with other youth or even our staff and volunteers!

One of the most impactful stories I’ve been told about our youth programming is how at age 10, one of our kids is in charge of paying the bills in their house. Not only that, they are unable to mail the bills so they bike and hand deliver every single one.

Your membership not only helps us provide bikes to them to fulfill this duty, but it provides a space for them to connect with their friends and most importantly, be a kid!

community connection in and out of our shop for all.

Many of the youth we serve use their bicycle to connect themselves to our community, especially outside of the shop.

One of the many things I love about Boise are all the different events and festivals we have, and this year I ran into many of the kids we serve at events throughout the summer!

At the World Village Fest I chatted with a group of kids who rode their bikes from BBP down and played one on one soccer, checked out the booths, and simply hung out with their friends and enjoyed the public space. They were stoked to show off their bikes to me.

An last January, Jimmy ran into more kids that have received bikes from BBP at the Martin Luther King rally! These are only two examples of the may times BBP staff has ran into kids connecting to their community through the bikes we give them. We run into them at Rhodes Skate Park, see them biking with their friends downtown, and so much more. This is the impact your membership provides.

As a BBP Member myself, I think our membership program is one of the most impactful program I’ve been a part of. Because of your support through becoming a new member or renewing, these connective moments can continue happening. In and out of the shop, throughout the Treasure Valley, and best of all, impact so many lives.

So, will you become a bbp member and help create impact and community connection for our treasure valley members?
